Montgomery First SDA Church’s Acts of Peace Food Ministry is stepping into a bold new initiative—one that unites faith, food, and health. In partnership with Baptist Healthcare Foundation and The Wellness Coalition, the church is preparing to launch the Produce Prescription Program, a mission-driven effort to help food-insecure individuals combat chronic illnesses through access to wholesome, nutritious food.

The Produce Prescription Program is rooted in the growing movement of “Food as Medicine,” focusing on the idea that what we eat can profoundly impact our health outcomes. Participants battling conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and other chronic illnesses will receive thoughtfully curated produce boxes designed to nourish the body and support healing. These boxes will be offered regularly and aim to bridge the gap between physical wellness and access to nutritious food—especially for those who need it most.

This powerful new program will be led by Elder Bernell Mapp, who brings compassion, experience, and a deep commitment to serving the community. If you are interested in volunteering, supporting, or simply learning more, you are encouraged to reach out to him directly at mappbernell@gmail.com or call/text 334-669-7770.

Set to begin in the coming weeks, this program reflects the church’s ongoing commitment to service, compassion, and community healing. It is not only a food program—it’s a ministry of restoration, where health and hope are delivered together.

As we prepare for this exciting launch, we welcome your support—whether through donations to help fund these catered produce boxes or through prayers as we build a strong, caring team to implement the program.

Let us continue to be the hands and feet of Christ, nourishing both body and soul in our community.
